Title Organic Chemistry I für Minorstudierende, incl. Exercises
Description This course forms the foundation of organic chemistry. The Clayden “Organic Chemistry” book is used as a reference for the majority of the content. The course focusses predominantly on the chemistry of the carbonyl (structure, stability, reactivity), revising concepts introduced in All. Chem. II (orbitals, polarisation of bonds, electronegativity in organic molecules, geometry, etc). In addition, there is an introduction to organic synthesis and a selection of classical reactions of common compounds is shown. Throughout the course, references to analogous biological reactions, with insights into the principles of green chemistry (sustainability of chemical processes), are discussed.

For minor students in chemistry and biochemistry.

The minor students attend the same lessons as the major students. However, as the minor students get less ECTS, there will be some topics marked in the lecture documents that the minor students don't have to learn in details and that won't be part of the exercises and the exam of the minor students. Also the last week of the semester with the topic of stereo chemistry does not have to be attended. This is already considered with the dates entered in KSL under this root number.

This lecture is the prerequisite for the lectures OC II, OC III and OC IV.

Please register for this lecture via KSL to get access to the material in ILIAS.
