Title |
Specialist Course: Introduction to BSM physics |
Description |
We will begin by understanding why we need physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) and give a brief overview of the different forms this can take. Our approach will be informed by experiment, and will include some of the more modern developments in BSM phenomenology in addition to the usual suspects. Topics covered will include some or all of the following: the Standard Model as an effective field theory; the hierarchy problem and possible solutions; the strong CP problem, and dark matter.
Along the way we will learn many techniques that are essential tools in the model-builder's arsenal, such as spurion analysis, power counting, CCWZ, and unitarity analysis. |
