Title |
Recent approaches in the assessment of social interactions |
Description |
In the first part, the course offers an introduction to selected approaches to the study of human thinking, feeling, and acting in social interactions. The approaches presented range from the creation and manipulation (morphing) of faces to the online recording of gaze behavior (eye-tracking) and emotional facial expressions during social interactions to the recording of social behavior in normal everyday life (experience sampling using smartphones). After a short theoretical introduction to the research methods, we will look at the exciting questions that can be investigated using these methods in different areas of psychology.
The second part focuses on one of the most important forms of human social behavior: listening. In surveys, well over 90% of the participants usually state that they consider themselves to be good listeners. At the same time, however, they believe that hardly anyone today can really listen. But how does "good" listening actually work, what effects does it have and (how) can it be trained? With regard to all these questions, research has made great progress in recent years. |
