Title |
Writing for Publication in Climate Sciences |
Description |
This course is intended for PhD students of the Graduate School Climate Sciences. It is designed to help junior researchers in the climate sciences develop the skills needed to write their first research articles in English. The course deals with fitting texts to target readerships and journals, managing the writing process efficiently, structuring each section of the text effectively, producing fluent and reader-focused sentences and paragraphs, editing the text before submission, and revising in response to reviewers’ comments.
Participants are expected to produce a number of short texts as homework assignments and will receive detailed individual feedback on these during the course. The student's supervisors should agree to review the texts once during the course.
Average homework load will be 2-3 hours per week. The final assignment is a portfolio of improved second-draft texts that can be incorporated in the student’s own publications or other work.
This course is NOT ACCOUNTABLE towards the curriculum of 12 ECTS for PhDs in Climate Sciences. |
