Description PLEASE NOTE: This seminar will be taught as a block course on Fridays and Saturdays.

This seminar teaches the fundamentals of nonverbal face-to-face communication as well as methods that can be used to measure or code nonverbal behavior. Central empirical findings on the role of nonverbal behavior in various psychological domains (e.g., deception detection, therapy interactions, romantic relationships, workplace communication etc.) will be discussed. In the practical part of the seminar, students develop their own research question and nonverbal coding scheme and use it in a dataset of videos from a negotiation study.

Requirements: Active and regular participation in the seminar, active participation in developing a research question and coding scheme, coding of videos, final presentation in small groups. Individual poster presentation and two-page written summary on an empirical article.
