Title |
Stress and health |
Description |
Stress - a topic that we cannot imagine our lives without, can have very different effects on us and our lives. Effects of stress range from negative health consequences such as higher risk of certain diseases, mental disorders and even mortality to positive consequences such as increased performance and contribution to longevity.
Due to the impact of stress on health through changes in biological processes on the one hand and deterioration of health behaviors on the other, it is a concept that is central to health psychology.
In this seminar we will learn about stress with some of its facets and effects, critically discuss how stress is studied in everyday life and in the laboratory with different measurement methods and where research gaps exist, and acquire knowledge about intervention approaches that could enable a more adaptive approach to deal with stress. |
