Title |
Development in the context of the family |
Description |
Content: The seminar deals with various aspects of the influence of the family context on child development: parental parenting style, sibling relationships, adoption and foster families, rainbow families, divorce, and external care. Co-determination in the exact design of the topics and further freedom of decision and creativity are important characteristics of the seminar. In small groups, the first step is to deal with a self-chosen subject area. Relevant theoretical and research papers are read, summarized and first discussed within the small group together with the lecturer. This is followed by a discussion of the respective topics together with all seminar participants. In this part of the seminar, the focus is on gaining knowledge and understanding of the topics covered for the entire seminar group. A further focus of the seminar is then on the considerations of a possible research design, with which fruitful contributions could be made to the respective topic. This design may be put into practice in small group format in the last part of the seminar in the form of a small pilot study. In the last session of the seminar, the results will be discussed in plenary.
Requirements: (1) Reading the relevant (mostly English) texts. (2) Design of a discussion round in the small group. The presentations given in the discussion round are not graded, but must reach the level "passed". The presentation slides are graded in PowerPoint format (33% of the overall grade) (3) Regular and active participation, maximum 2 missed appointments. Your own discussion date and the presentation dates must not be missed under any circumstances. (4) Writing a study protocol in a small group (graded, 67% of the overall grade). The final examination is thus designed by writing a study protocol to a question independently developed in small groups in the seminar and examined on a small sample itself.
