Die Spätantike, die Zeit zwischen dem 3. und dem 6. Jh. n. Chr., war eine Zeit tiefgreifender Umbrüche. Die Vorlesung gibt einen Überblick über die historisch überlieferten Ereignisse und über die Situationen innerhalb und ausserhalb des Imperiums im 3. Jh. respektive den Aktionen und Reaktionen – und damit den Transformationsprozessen - wie sie sich im archäologischen Befund im 4. und 5. Jh. überliefert haben und interpretiert werden.
