Course Content
The course will provide an in-depth study of the economics of international trade enabling students to understand real world questions related to globalization. We cover the following topics: (i) comparative advantage; (ii) factor abundance; (iii) scale economies and trade; (iv) firm heterogeneity and trade; (v) multinational production; (vi) estimation of gravity models; (vii) trade in value chains; (viii) tariffs and trade policies; (ix) applied trade policy modelling. The knowledge on these topics will be applied to real world questions such as the economic impact of tariffs, the distributional effects of trade, the importance of diversification in value chains, the link between trade and the environment and the future of trade policy cooperation
