Title Scientific Communications for PhD Students
Description This course has been designed to provide instruction on scientific communications beyond those of standard manuscript writing for PhD students at any stage of their study.
The following topics will be covered:
- manuscript reviewing,
- responding to manuscript reviews,
- research grant writing,
- communicating to lay audiences, and
- poster making.
The course format will combine theoretical instruction with in-class as well as take-home exercises. The opportunity to work on the student’s own material will be provided.

Course organizers:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarah Longnus, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Inselspital, Bern University Hospital and University of Bern. PD. Dr. Kady Fischer Department of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Inselspital, Bern University Hospital and University of Bern.

Dates and Venue: All lectures will be held on Wednesday mornings, from 8:30-12:00 at Murtenstrasse 28, Room 416 (with the exception of March 11, Room 308)

Please note: this course has a limited number of participants, so early registration is recommended. Please register via CTS/KLS.

Be sure to include this course on your doctoral agreement. Priority is given to PhD students who have completed one full year of their PhD.

ECTS: 2 ECTS credits awarded with 80% attendance and active participation.
Not eligible as course to fulfill mandatory GCB requirements.

Limitation: 12 students.
