| Title |
CAMERATA BERN: Workshop on writing program booklet texts |
| Description |
How do you write a meaningful, informative text for a concert booklet without getting lost in biographical details? How do you find the connecting thread between sometimes very different individual works? How can complex analytical details be written down in a generally understandable manner? How do you turn dusty historical information into a gripping text? These questions will be asked in this course and solved together in a practical way.
For the 2026/2027 season of CAMERATA BERN, the Institute of Musicology at the University of Bern has once again been entrusted with writing the program notes. During the season and with the participation of internationally renowned interpreters, the ensemble features musical works from the baroque to the present. As a guest, the executive officer of CAMERATA BERN, Sonja Koller, will provide an insight into the program planning and concert practice. We will also take a look behind the scenes. Rehearsal and concert visits are also planned. In the joint work, in the sense of a writing workshop, we will create and discuss the entire text development process, from the initial ideas and concepts to the print-ready version: "Learning by doing" from an application-oriented and career-preparation perspective.
The course is not only aimed at students who are planning a professional career in the field of music mediation. The skills imparted in the course are essential for any writing activity, especially for scientific writing.
