513002-FS2026-0-Analytical Chemistry II, incl. Exercises

Root number 513002
Semester FS2026
Type of course Lecture
Allocation to subject Chemistry
Type of exam Written exam
Title Analytical Chemistry II, incl. Exercises
Description The lecture builds on the knowledge acquired in "Analytical Chemistry I" and teaches the application of key analytical techniques for the elucidation of molecular structures. The focus is on infrared spectroscopy (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), and mass spectrometry (MS). The lecture includes practical sessions.

Part S. Schürch: Deepening the knowlgedge from the lecture "Analytical Chemistry I". Emphasis is on the interpretation of mass spectra (EI-MS, ESI-MS, and MALDI-MS spectra) for the elucidation of molecular structures and the separation of mixtures using gas and liquid chromatography. The theory is supplemented by practical examples.

Part J. Furrer: Introduction to modern structure elucidation using IR and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). Lecture: Theory, fundamentals, examples, application of methods for structure elucidation and structure verification.
