| Title |
Methods seminar: How (not) to use AI in research |
| Description |
This course examines how psychological researchers are using AI in their research – as study designers, as data analysts, as writing collaborators, as reviewers, and even as research participants. Each week we will focus on a target paper that describes the use of AI in psychological research for one of these purposes. We will discuss whether it is a good idea to use AI for these purposes, as well as the factors that might influence its success/failure in achieving this purpose. For example: if we would use AI to replace research participants: How would we do this well? What are the barriers to doing this? And is this even a good idea in the first place? By the end of this course, you will have a better understanding of how to critically evaluate the use of AI in research, as well as a better understanding of what AI is, how it works, and how we can influence its performance to be better/worse. |
