| Title |
Lecture: Religion, Robotics, and the KI-Revolution |
| Description |
The exploding use of artificial intelligence in chatbots (LLMs), robotics, and other applications undoubtedly bears the hallmarks of a major social revolution. In the context of congnitive interests pursued in the Study of Religion and Philosophy, the lecture will primarily address the following questions: 1. How do religious traditions and their views on texts, language, and communication change through the integration of AI? 2. What will a comparison of the use of humanoid robots in Japan and Korea, as well as in Europe, in care, education (and in East Asia in ritual and therapeutic services in temples) show in systematic respects? 3. How do individuals establish social and emotional relationships with AI robots and chatbots, and how do religious and philosophical actors address and evaluate such relationships? 4. The use of AI and robots has occasionally been understood from an animistic perspective – what does such a description yield? |
