Journal Club – Climate and Health |
| Description |
The Journal Club will introduce students to key topics on climate epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on developing critical thinking, analysis, and scientific communication, and discussion of relevant papers in the field. Through eight biweekly sessions, students will engage with landmark papers addressing topics at the intersection of climate and health including heat-related health impacts, mental health in a changing climate, vector-borne diseases, urban heat and public health interventions, and among others. The intended learning outcomes are the capacity to critically evaluate and discuss the key findings and limitations of the selected studies.
Each session will be held every other Tuesday from 17.02.26 to 26.05.26 and will follow a structured format. A landmark paper selected by the session tutors will be distributed in advance. Two pre-selected students will lead the session with a 30-minute presentation that introduces the topic and critically reviews the paper. This will be followed by a moderated group discussion (approx. 50 minutes) to encourage active participation and debate. At the end of each session, a short quiz will help reinforce key concepts |
