Description The lecture covers the history of Israel/Palestine from the end of Egyptian rule in the 12th century BCE to the conquest of Jerusalem by Pompey in 63 BCE. Political, cultural, and religious developments that took place in the southern Levant during this period are outlined in dialogue with the written sources (from the Hebrew Bible and its broader cultural environment), and against the background of the Ancient Near East and the Mediterranean world.
