Title Motor and Cognitive Development
Description The seminar will address current research topics in the overlap area of motor and cognitive development. These include similarities and relationships between milestones in motor and cognitive development cross-sectionally and longitudinally, effects of various motor activities (including interventions) on cognitive functional domains, as well as cognitive deficits that are comorbid with motor weaknesses. Students participating in this seminar will develop a basic text in preparation for each session, which will be discussed in the seminar. Further, they will actively participate in a presentation. It will also be possible to write a seminar paper on the topic.
The grading of the ECTS that can be earned in this seminar will be done by a written exam during the master's exam week.
Requirements: The seminar makes high demands on continuous and active participation. For the grading of the 5 ECTS associated with the seminar, a final exam will be written in the Master exam week, probably a 2 hour Open Book PRüfung from home with open questions.
Literature: The literature relevant for the exam will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
Registration: Registration must be done through KSL. Registration is binding and cannot be cancelled or changed.
Study focus: The work performed in the seminar is recognized for a Master's module in Developmental Psychology (15, 30, or 45 ECTS) as well as an elective.
It is possible to write an additional seminar paper (Seminar Paper I: 25-30 p., 3 ECTS; Seminar Paper II: 35-40 p., 4 ECTS). Seminar papers are written independently by one person as an individual performance and must comply with the guidelines of the Dept. of Developmental Psychology (see homepage).
