Title |
Seminar: Solving Economic Models with Python |
Description |
The aim of this seminar is to provide a first introduction to the Python programming language and how it can be used for solving (micro)economic models. No prior knowledge of Python is needed. However, the students will be required to independently learn, troubleshoot and solve problems (i.e. look for solutions online).
In this seminar, students will reproduce the main results of a selected research paper in Python. This will be done in four stages. First, students receive a brief introduction to Python and its scientific libraries. Second, in groups, students select a paper and prepare a paper sketch for their program. Third the students write the program. Fourth, the students present their results.
The seminar is based on Python Programming for Quantitative Economics by Thomas J. Sargent and John Stachurski, which is available at https://python-programming.quantecon.org.
More information is available in ILIAS.
Please register in KSL for participation and presentation.
