| Description |
This course is industry and practice-oriented, the following topics will be discussed:
1. Overview of how research and development (R&D) is carried out in the biotechnology industry.
2. Technology platforms of the biotechnology industry: plasma proteins, recombinant proteins, vaccines, virus, and nucleic acid-based therapy, cell and gene therapy (R&D of small molecules is not discussed).
3. Examples of the project stages early research, translational research, and process development.
4. "Case Studies" of current and completed biotechnology R&D projects at CSL Behring.
Advanced knowledge of chemistry/biology (≥3rd year of study) should be available.
