Title |
Research Seminar in Sociology of Education: Causality, data collection & replication |
Description |
The research internship aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge to develop suitable research designs for their social science research questions. The focus is on experiments and survey designs, as well as secondary data and replications. Particular attention is paid to exploring causality and appropriate methods for testing causal relationships, and – given the replication crisis – their replication in general and reanalysis in particular.
Finally, students are encouraged to be creative in their own independent research and to directly apply their research skills in a small, self-developed project (e.g., conceptualizing a research project, analyzing secondary data, or replicating/reanalyzing a publication). This independent research is documented in a research report, which serves as a graded assessment. |
