Title |
PA: Introduction to Prehistoric Archaeology |
Description |
The proseminar offers an introduction to prehistoric archaeology, in which students learn about key topics, and how to apply basic concepts and working methods. We will develop an overview of the prehistoric periods and their most important sources (short presentations by students) and, through exercises, find our way into working with key scientific questions. Our questions are:
- What areas of research does prehistoric archaeology cover?
- What are the most famous finds in Switzerland and Europe?
- What theoretical approaches are developed and discussed?
- What are the fundamental methods of prehistoric archaeology?
- What current research questions are being investigated?
The exercise includes excursions in the Bern area and guest lectures.
