Title |
Narcissism as a personality disposition |
Description |
Starts in the 2nd week of the semester!
Content:
Narcissism is a popular topic of everyday conversation. As a sub-clinical personality construct, narcissism is also becoming an increasingly popular construct in empirical research. This seminar provides an overview of the contemporary research findings on narcissism. Some of the questions that will be addressed are: How is narcissism defined and assessed? How does it develop? How do narcissistic individuals affect other people? Why are their behaviors maintained and to what degree can they be changed. Finally, has narcissism increased in the last few decades?
Requirements:
The seminar is based on discussions that are moderated by the participants. The goal is to learn to critically evaluate and interpret the scientific literature and findings. The requirements therefore are regular preparation of original scientific research articles and active participation in the discussions. The preparation and moderation of a session (development of discussion questions and structuring the session), as well as passing a final exam or writing a reflection diary in conjunction with the sessions are also required (details at the beginning of the course).
Literature:
Will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
