Title Computational Epidemiology
Description This course gives an introduction to mathematical models used in epidemiology, and presents and discusses novel mathematical, computational and statistical approaches to study the spread of infectious diseases. No prior knowledge about epidemiology is necessary. A basic understanding of mathematical modelling (mainly ordinary differential equations), computational evolutionary biology and phylogenetics, and bioinformatics is useful for this course. The course will cover various topics, ranging from standard SIR models to phylogeographic approaches, models of treatment resistance, reconstruction of evolutionary dynamics, and the development usage of tools such as tracing apps.
