Title |
The social psychology of gullibility and belief in fake news |
Description |
In this seminar, we will learn to differentiate between various forms of misinformation and then take a closer look at the history of misinformation, starting with its evolutionary origins in the animal kingdom and ending with the era of the internet. We will also focus on the question of whether and how the internet has changed the way (mis)information is produced, consumed and disseminated. Building on this knowledge, we will discuss newer approaches to combating fake news. Finally, we will look at the impact of the latest technologies on the production of deepfakes. |
