| Title |
Psychology of Digitalisation: Everything is Computer |
| Description |
Why do so many psychological studies fail to replicate — and why does it matter for understanding digitalisation? Why are people convinced by fake news, while others insist filter bubbles don’t exist? Why do you feel closer to your AI chatbot than to some of your classmates? Why do robots make such reliable colleagues but still such awkward dinner guests? Why does advertising suddenly seem more effective when it comes from influencers?
With the increasing digitalisation of everyday life, there is a growing need for psychological theories about the processes and effects of digital technologies, as well as evidence-based recommendations for their use. Together, the lectures "Psychology of Digitalisation" and "Digitalisation of Psychology" explore current research on digital media and technologies, covering topics such as the credibility revolution in science, digital and social media, humans and non-humans, philosophies and ideologies of science, digitalisationa and daily life as well as the role of information and knowledge in the digital age. The lectures provides an overview of current research and theories on the psychology of digitalisation and through a method-critical lens discusses their importance for individual and social development.
The lecture “Psychology of Digitalisation: Everything is Computer” takes place in the fall semester and continues in the spring semester as “Digitalisation of Psychology: Computer is Everything”. There is a written exam after each semester. Both lectures are held in English. |
