Methods seminar: Reproducible data processing and visualisation in R [Intermediate] |
Description |
This course teaches reproducible data processing and visualisation in R/tidyverse at an intermediate level.
This seminar covers:
- Data processing and cleaning (aka ‘wrangling’): Using tidyverse R packages such as {dplyr}, {tidyr} and {forcats} to convert messy raw data into analysable datasets in a reproducible way
- Visualisation: Using {ggplot2} to create high quality visualisations of results.
- Literate programming: Using RMarkdown and Quarto to create files that mix text, code, and output such as tables and plots.
- Data and code management: how to structure data and code following principles such as Tidy Data and standards such Psych-DS.
- Version control: using GitHub to track manage code development.
- Results extraction and reporting: using easystats R packages such as {report} and {parameters} to extract, report and interpret the results of statistical analyses.
Please note that for beginner R skills you should instead take Dr. Sandra Grinschgl’s ‘R U Ready?” seminar. Please do not enrol in both seminars; students who do so will be asked to unenroll from one. If you are unsure which level you should take, please speak to either Dr. Hussey or Dr. Grinschgl.
Note: This class can be taken as a methods seminar or as a regular seminar for the master major/minor "Psychology of Digitalisation" |
