Title |
Beyond Quick Fixes: Long-term Health Behaviour Change |
Description |
Interventions to change health behaviour, such as programmes to promote regular physical activity, a balanced diet or correct hygiene behaviour, often prove to be effective. However, intervention studies regularly tend to consider only the short-term effect. Therefore, little is known about the mechanisms of longer-term maintenance of health behaviour change. In this seminar, we will delve deeper into the underlying phenomena of long-term behaviour change (e.g. lapses or relapses). We will critically reflect on existing definitions of these phenomena and the underlying theories. Furthermore, we will interactively discuss existing research gaps and methods that make it possible to investigate these research gaps. |
