Title |
Environmental Psychology |
Description |
The influence of human behaviour on the environment is a central topic of scientific and social debate. Environmental psychology investigates how people perceive, experience and shape their natural and built environment - and which psychological mechanisms influence sustainable or environmentally harmful behaviour.
The aim of the seminar is to gain an in-depth understanding of psychological theories and empirical findings that explain why people (do not) behave sustainably and how environmental awareness can be promoted. Theories and concepts from social, cognitive and motivational psychology will be covered, supplemented by findings from behavioural economics and communication science.
In addition to theoretical principles, the seminar includes practical exercises such as case analyses, experiments and discussion rounds in order to critically reflect on and apply strategies for sustainable behavioural change.
This seminar promotes education for sustainable development by providing scientifically sound insights into the psychological foundations of sustainable behaviour. By analysing individual and social behavioural patterns and developing practical strategies for changing behaviour, the course enables participants to actively contribute to sustainable transformation.
