Title |
Understanding and explaining obsessive-compulsive disorders: A seminar with a podcast project |
Description |
Obsessive-compulsive disorder is common but often misunderstood. Why does it develop? How is it diagnosed and treated? And what does it mean to live with OCD?
In the seminar, we will explore the central aspects of OCD based on fundamental and current research literature: from theoretical models to diagnostic procedures to evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as exposure and response prevention (ERP). We will take a look at how OCD affects the lives of those affected and what new developments are emerging in research and treatment.
In the second half of the seminar, participants will apply their knowledge in a practical way: with the support of the seminar leaders, they will work in groups to produce their own podcast episode on an OCD-related topic. In doing so, they will creatively explore a specific aspect of the disorder and learn how to present scientific findings in a clear and understandable way for a broad audience. The focus is on making complex content accessible, communicating well-founded information in an appealing way, and expanding their skills in science communication and knowledge transfer.
The seminar is conducted as a face-to-face event. |
