Food web theory and modelling |
Description |
5 h lecture and exercise on 5 days from 9-12 and 13-15. Dates: 3./10. October and 7./14./28. November 2025
This is a course for master and PhD students on food-web theory and modelling. The course has the format with a mix of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on project work. The aim is to learn how traits, such as body size, drive the structure and the dynamics of food webs through fundamental ecological processes (e.g., metabolism and consumption) and what implications this has for ecosystems. With the help of an allometric trophic network (ATN) model available as an R package (ATNr) students will learn to run food-web simulations, develop simple research question and how to tailor and run models to answer such questions. |
