Economists rely extensively on models in order to gain understanding of how the world works, to offer policy advice and to forecast the future. Most models can only be solved numerically on a computer. This course aims to introduce students to the powerful programming language Python, which is commonly used to solve problems in economics (and elsewhere). This knowledge is applied to various subjects such as data analysis and financial economics (bank loans, investment portfolios). The course material consists of class notes as well as free guides and reference books. Podcasts will be provided.

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites other than having completed the first year of studies.

Location
The course is held in the computer pool of the Economics Department (PC Pool A322, UniS, 3rd floor) on Fridays from 14.15-17.00h.

The exam is open book (but without internet access).
