| Title |
Self-conscious emotions in clinical psychology |
| Description |
In this seminar, we will examine various self-conscious emotions, such as shame and guilt, from a fundamental scientific and clinical psychological perspective. We will begin by exploring the origins, functions, and developmental psychological foundations of self-conscious emotions. Key theoretical perspectives will be drawn upon to better understand these emotions in their psychological and interpersonal context. As the seminar progresses, we will take a closer look at different self-related emotions in relation to specific mental disorders (e.g., depression, social anxiety disorder, or personality disorders). A few sessions will feature guest speakers who will share additional perspectives from clinical practice. |
