Title Clinical Psychology in the Digital Age: Opportunities, Risks, and Perspectives
Description Digitalization is transforming the ways in which we communicate, work, and deliver mental health care. Clinical psychology is likewise undergoing substantial change. Digital technologies offer new opportunities for research, assessment, and psychological interventions, while also raising important questions and challenges, for example with regard to addictive potential and the responsible use of digital services. Against the backdrop of global shortages in mental health care, prolonged waiting times for psychotherapy, and limited resources, innovative and low-threshold models of service delivery are increasingly gaining attention in both research and clinical practice. This seminar provides an overview of the current state of research and the application of digital technologies in clinical psychology across the lifespan. Particular focus is placed on digital ultra-brief interventions (UBIs) and single-session interventions (SSIs), emerging evidence-based approaches designed to enhance the accessibility, timeliness, and scalability of psychological support.

Requirements: Assessment is based on the preparation and facilitation of a seminar session in small groups as well as the development of an academic poster. To obtain the 5 ECTS credits, students are expected to participate regularly and actively, lead one seminar session, and present and submit their poster by the specified deadline. The relevant literature will largely be identified, reviewed, and synthesized independently by the students and prepared for both presentations and posters.
