| Title |
Psychological Therapy in practice (PTiP) |
| Description |
The course is practice-oriented. Participants will learn how to develop a case formulation and plan psychotherapeutical treatment according to Consistency Theory. By personal involvement, they will learn how to implement these theoretical concepts into therapeutic practice.
The course is divided into plenary sessions and exercise-oriented work in small groups throughout the semester.
The plenary sessions are held in blocks, which take place at the following Fridays during the semester:
- 1. Block: Friday, 18th September (14:15-17:00 h)
- 2. Block: Friday, 16th October (9:15-13:00 h)
- 3. Block: Friday, 30th October (9:15-13:00 h)
- 4. Block/case presentation: Friday, 11th December from 9.15 - 13:00 h
Each block consits of a mixture of plenary lectures and work in small groups: In the plenary sessions knowledge and expertise will be taught to enable the participants to develop individual case formulations. Directly after the plenary sessions, there will be work in small groups, where the aquired knowledge will be applied to an ongoing therapy. This work in small groups will be supported by the lecturer.
During the time between the blocks, the participants will be watching videos of therapeutical sessions in small groups. Together with the lecturer they will be developing a case formulation of the therapy they’re following.
The case formulation as well as the treatment plan will be presented by the groups in the plenary sessions of the last block.
Course Requirements:
A prerequisite for the participation in this course is the prior attendance of the course “Psychological Therapy”.
All blocks of the course must be attended (due to the organization in blocks, absences are not allowed). In the time between the blocks there will be homework such as reading literature, working at the case conceptualization, doing exercises, etc. Furthermore the recordings of the therapy sessions have to be watched at the Praxisstelle. The presentation of the case - oral exam will be take place on the 11th December.
Course assessment:
The overall mark will be calculated from the accomplishment in the presentation and in the exam.
