| Description |
The lecture course gives an overview of personality development across the life span, with the main focus on adolescence and adulthood. The lectures will cover developmental aspects for a range of constructs, including the Big Five personality traits, self-esteem, narcissism, and attachment styles. The lectures will address normative developmental trajectories, stability of individual differences, theories of personality development, influential factors (such as romantic relationships, work, and life events), and consequences of personality development.
The course uses a "flipped classroom" format with four in-person sessions (15.09., 13.10., 10.11., 01.12). However, the course can also be taken without attending the in-person sessions (attendance is not mandatory).
Outside of the in-person sessions, students acquire the relevant knowledge based on podcasts, reading texts, and guiding questions on the course content. The in-person sessions are used for active engagement with the course content. The course format will be explained in detail at the first in-person session. To create a comfortable and open atmosphere for discussion, the in-person sessions will not be live-streamed or recorded as podcasts (exception: at the first in-person session, the explanation of the course format and organizational aspects will be recorded as a podcast).
Requirements: Passing a final written exam (graded, Calendar Week 5).
Readings: Information on readings will be provided at the beginning of the course.
Course specialization: The lecture course can be credited for a module in developmental psychology (45, 30, or 15 ECTS), in personality psychology, individual differences, and psychological assessment, as a facultative course in psychology, or as a facultative course in the Department of Business Administration. |
