Title |
Organic Chemistry I for minor students, incl. Exercises |
Description |
This course forms the foundation of organic chemistry. The Clayden “Organic Chemistry” book is used as a reference for the majority of the content. The course focusses predominantly on the chemistry of the carbonyl (structure, stability, reactivity), revising concepts introduced in All. Chem. II (orbitals, polarisation of bonds, electronegativity in organic molecules, geometry, etc). In addition, there is an introduction to organic synthesis and a selection of classical reactions of common compounds is shown. Throughout the course, references to analogous biological reactions, with insights into the principles of green chemistry (sustainability of chemical processes), are discussed.
Introduction to Chemistry I + II are prerequisites.
