The tutorial “Introduction to Psychology” is a face-to-face course that takes place approximately every two weeks (see below for details) and is supplemented by digital learning modules. The main objective of the tutorial is to teach important skills for studying psychology and to promote initial social contact with fellow students. In small groups and under the guidance of tutors (i.e. master students), important skills are taught in an interactive teaching format, such as the use of the ILIAS and KSL platforms, researching, reading, and critically reflecting on scientific literature, and the application of AI tools. In addition, relevant topics such as scientific theories and good scientific practice are covered. Current topics in psychology and advancing digitalization are also discussed using digital learning modules and short group presentations. The tutorial can also be used as a platform to clarify open questions and uncertainties about the psychology program and is intended to facilitate the transition to academic life.
The course lasts one semester and is completed without an exam. To receive 2 ECTS credits, regular attendance (max. 2 absences from face-to-face sessions) and completion of minor performance assessments (weekly exercises, group presentation, and final paper) are required.
Literature: The literature will be announced during the semester and does not need to be purchased in advance!
The tutorial will begin in calendar week 39: from September 22 to September 26, 2025.
Tutorial groups will take place on different dates, but you only need to attend one tutorial per week. Register for your preferred date using the corresponding KSL running number:

Please register for the KSL running number with your desired time. Registration starts on September 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. and is based on a first-come, first-served principle. If there are no more places available for a date, registration will no longer be possible. However, you can use the “place exchange” function to request exchange partners for group exchanges. Exchanges are only possible via KSL until September 18. The head of the lecture will not process any other exchange requests!
Some parts of the tutorial will be held via digital learning modules. Therefore, compulsory attendance sessions will only take place in the following weeks: calendar weeks 39, 40 (optional), 41, 43, 45, 47, 48, 49, 51. Please make a note of these dates; if you miss more than two sessions, you will fail the course.
Late registration for participation in the tutorial is only possible until the end of calendar week 40, i.e., until October 3, 2025. You will then be assigned to a group with available places. |
