Die vorwissenschaftliche Beschäftigung mit der Bedeutung von sprachlichen Äusserungen hat eine lange Tradition, die mindestens bis zur Antike reicht, und die wissenschaftliche Untersuchung von semantischen und pragmatischen Problemen stellt einen unabdingbaren Bereich auch der zeitgenössischen Linguistik dar. Diese Veranstaltung führt in die Grundfragen dieser Teildisziplinen der Sprachwissenschaft ein.
